I can’t turn on my wii, all cords are connected but only shows a black screen. What is wrong with it?

My nintendo wii doesn’t turn on, everything is connected but when I turn it on it doesn’t work, it stays as a black screen. Is there a problem with the cords or the wii itself? I was wondering if I put in the yellow, red, and white cords at the correct place, where do they belong? I need help and information on how to fix the nintendo wii.

1) does the Wii power on? – does the light on the Wii turn green when you press the power button? if not, then check to make sure you have the power cable plugged in correctly to the back of the Wii and into your wall outlet.

2) are the composite cables plugged into your TV correctly (composite cables = yellow, red and white cables) Your TV should have labeled inputs on the back/side/or front of it. You want to look for a Yellow/red/white input set that is labeled either “aux” , “input” , “video” , or “game” …. once you match the colors with the cable from your Wii – you need to be sure to turn the TV to the correct channel. There should be an “input” or “video” button on your remote or on your TV… press that button (once you turn on your Wii) and look for the Wii screen. If you still can’t see OR hear the Wii, then you may have a problem.

-your TV’s input may be bad, the only way to check this is to plug something else in that input (that you KNOW works) and see if you can see/hear it.

-plug your Wii into another input or another TV to see if you can see/hear it..

-If you test your Wii on another TV (not jsut another input) and still can’t see/hear it, then you can assume you have a problem with your Wii and should contact Nintendo Support.
